Can You Help Me Buy A Yacht?

You may be a first-time buyer looking for some friendly and honest advice or a regular charterer who has decided to buy a yacht having tried many out. Maybe you are an experienced owner or a former client of mine looking to buy larger, smaller or something different. In any case, I would be delighted to have a chat or a meeting to discuss what you are thinking and seeing how I can help you.

One of the hardest things a yacht broker can do is sell a yacht to a first-time buyer. Quite understandably, the new potential yacht owner is looking to find the yacht of his or her dreams at the best possible price and may be apprehensive about spending an amount of money which could be substantially more than the value of their home.

I am fortunate in that, after 35 years in the business, I have never had a client turn around to me and say that they had bought the wrong yacht or that they were unhappy with their purchase. Buying a yacht should be enjoyable and you should feel that you are in the hands of a professional broker who has your best interests at heart.

Most brokers go to great ends to assist buyers, identify their needs, accompany them to inspect desirable yachts, negotiate a Memorandum of Agreement and conditions when the ideal one is located, co-ordinate sea trials and assist with finding a surveyor, negotiate any post-survey findings and complete sales with professionalism and correctness. However, they are almost always being paid their commissions by the seller or via a listing broker.

Perhaps an alternative way to ensuring that the interests of buyers are really being defended is to have a broker represent them who is paid a fee, a finder’s commission or other remuneration agreed with the buyer. Let’s have a chat!
